Things To Do In Seattle Guide

Seattle has endless options of things to do no matter what time of day or what season of the year it is, whether you want to be indoors or outdoors or you are ready to spend a lot of money or none.

***The general rule is to carry a rain jacket and lightweight sweater in your bag***

Seattle Art Museum (known as "SAM")- art museum located in the heart of Seattle. The SAM collection includes more than 25,000 pieces and attracts almost 800,000 visitors a year. First Thursdays of each month are free (except for few exhibits that are offered at a discounted price). The museum's collection is updated regularly, don't miss out on their inspiring artwork!

Pike Place Market- the oldest consistently operating farmer's market in the nation. Since 1907, Pike Place Market has been offering fresh and local produce, unique food and handmade artwork. Tourists and locals   enjoy free samples, the music of talented performers, the tossed fish and the floral sales. Make sure not to miss out on iconic Statue of Pig, first Starbucks Coffees Shop and The Gum Wall, the world's top five "Germiest" attraction.

Space Needle- major landmark of the Pacific Northwest and also a well-known symbol of Seattle. Built in 1962 and nicknamed "The Space Cage", the Space Needle now not only features an Observation Deck, but also Revolving SkyCity Restaurant and a Retail Store. Make sure to bring your camera to capture the majestic views of Seattle Skyline, Olympic and Cascade Mountains, Mount Rainier and surrounding islands. This is one of the must-do things in Seattle that is worth every single penny!!!

Seattle Aquarium- opened since 1977, it has hosted over 22 million visitors. Moreover, the Aquarium is the 9th largest Aquarium in the U.S. Visitors can enjoy unique exhibits of Washington Waters, Ocean Oddities,  Birds and Shore and The Marine Mammals. The mini tide pools are also very popular, you can touch starfish, anemones and the like. Don't miss out on scuba-diving show and cute otter born in January! This attraction is popular among families and solo adventures as well as couples.

Seattle Bug Safari-is a live bug zoo and gift shop in Downtown Seattle. If you like bugs or you're curious about them, this place is the promised land! The exhibit features insects, spiders, scorpions, ticks, millipedes and centipedes. Visitors can purchase bugs trapped in amber or exotic butterflies in double glass. Ready for a "Bug Day"?

Bill Speidel's Underground Tour-walk beneath Seattle's streets which used to be the first floor of the buildings before they realized that the city's layout was planned poorly. "Thanks" to The Great Seattle Fire, the city was rebuilt and the "Underground" was created! The tour is led by witty and informative tour guides making the tour very fun! Ladies, leaving your high heels at home is my best piece of advice! The terrain can be uneven and there are you will be going up and down stairs a lot.

Pacific Science Center- plan your trip to Pacific Science Center since you have a lot of choices. It features 5 building of science exhibits, 2 IMAX Theatres, Planetarium, Tropical Butterfly House and Laser Dome with the magic light and a fusion of 15,000 watts of sound. You will be able to see Laser Gaga, Laser Beetles and others. I recommend to bring pillows and blankets for Laser Dome so that you don't get tired of looking up during the whole show! In order to escape from drizzly days of the Pacific Northwest, Tropical Butterfly House will provide you with light, heat and breathtaking butterflies! Pacific Science Center is a learning experience for people of all ages!

Ride the Ducks of Seattle- "You haven't seen Seattle until you've seen it from a Duck!" This is one of my favorite Seattle attractions, the best city tour I've ever taken! The ecstatic tour drivers will take you on and adventure tour on an amphibious landing craft that was built during World War II. to serve the military primarily. You will travel the streets and the waters of Lake Union while dancing to the disco music and blowing on your duck quacker mouth piece! And you will learn a lot about Seattle. Grab your family, friends and have a blast!

Ballard Locks- officially known as the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, Ballard Locks was built in 1911 connecting the salt water of Puget Sound and the fresh water of the Ship Canal connecting Lake Washington. The attraction is enjoyed by locals and tourists because they can watch the boats of all sizes and shapes go by and also see the salmon returning down through the fish ladder to the Puget Sound area. The locks are a very important link for salmon and steelhead to pass between salt and fresh water. Don't forget to check out Botanical Garden to get lost and relax. The admission is free!
